Property update

Greg, Craig and Betty met with Ryan Van der Woude – Property Development Manager for Sydney Presbytery. The good news is that the Belmont Street property has been sold and the funds released for work to start immediately. The Programme is as follows:
Site mobilization April-May 2025
Design Phase April – July 2025
Construction July 2025 – July 2026
Ryan expressed his thanks to SSUC members for being patient whilst waiting for Belmont Street to be sold. The work will take longer than anticipated but that’s just the way it is. Our patience will no doubt be tested at times during this period, but let’s think about the end result, let’s be thankful that we have a space in which to worship, and let’s grow our patience!

Thanks to all worship leaders who have put their names on the roster. There are still vacancies for the next few weeks/months – particularly for readers.

If you are able to help (please check the online worship roster for opportunities (April and July) – you might like to volunteer as a reader, musician, helper with setup or server of morning tea).

  • We are blessed to have Alicia Dong as our administration assistant. Lately, Alicia has been helping to prepare the manse for our supply minister – working with Andrew on clean and tidy spaces in the manse for community activities.
  • Thank you Maddie for becoming our Web Site Manager
  • A proposal for a second First Peoples Content Series curated by Aunty Norma
Ingram has been approved by the City of Sydney. This series will commence in May.

The ‘prompt’, given by Rosalind is ‘havoc’. havoc(n.) early 15c., from the expression cry havoc “give the signal to pillage” (Anglo-French crier havok, late 14c.). Havok, the signal to soldiers to seize plunder, is from Old French havot “pillaging, looting” (in crier havot), which is related to haver “to seize, grasp,” hef “hook,” probably from a Germanic source (see hawk (n.)), or from Latin habere “to have, possess.” General sense of “devastation” first recorded late 15c.
