Benedictions – ‘We pray, we serve, we grow’
The following benedictions for Ordinary Sundays in August 2021 incorporate the mission motto: “We pray, we serve, we grow.”
Practise good; seek peace and pursue it. Taste and see how good Our God is! And, in the days of crisis, may the blessing of God be yours … We pray in the name of love … alongside many peacemakers, we serve … that we all might grow in grace and confidence.
Entrust your life to the love that sustains us through feast and famine. Let God’s hope be a clearing sky before you, a compass in your heart guiding you to where you belong … And the blessing of God – to whom we pray, with whom we serve, in whom we grow – be with you now and always.
Go out, to be poets of the Word. Cleanse your hearts of conceit. Be quick to listen and to learn. And the blessing of God – to whom we pray, with whom we serve, in whom we grow – be with you now and always. (James 1)
The word of Our God is true and everything God does can be trusted. Our God loves justice and right and fills the Earth with love. And so may the blessing of God – to whom we pray, with whom we serve, in whom we live and grow – be upon you now and remain with you always. (Psalm 33)
Let us go to love and care, to glory in God’s holy Name, to seek God’s presence constantly, and to remember God’s covenant with Abraham and Sarah. May the promise of God guide us as we pray. The promise of God meet us in those we serve. The promise of God sing in and through us as we grow, this day and every day. (Psalm 105)
