October – roses, vegetables, wildflowers
October is a good time to plant roses. Buy them from the nursery for best quality. They cost a bit more but it’s worth it.
And also summer vegetables like artichoke, basil, beans, beetroot, cabbage, capsicum and carrots. All of these plants can be grown either from seeds or seedlings.
Once your seeds have germinated, keep them in a warm, sunny position. Water them regularly and plant out in your garden after about 4 to 6 weeks.
It’s also a good time of year for cosmos, which produces masses of daisy-like or cup-shaped blooms on slender, upright stems. The foliage is airy and fern-like.
They can be pink and white. Like wildflowers – very beautiful!
